The main responsibility of the Committee on Political Education (COPE) is to inform and educate the members of Local 22 concerning the issues that directly affect their working lives.
Activities of the COPE committee are many:

- County Central Committee meetings

- County Conventions
- State Conventions
- Voter Registration and Turnout
- Informational mailings
- Fundraising
- Candidate review and endorsements
- Poll Duty
- Campaign Signs

- Davis/Bacon
- Minimum Wage laws (local and federal)
- National Labor Relations Act (NLRA)

- Public Service Employment Act (PSEA)
- Social Security reform
- Pension Law reform
- Tax reform
